Joy Hannah Studio Portrait

Based in Colorado, Joy Farr is a professional painter working in acrylic paint telling fantastical stories. Growing up, she moved between Texas and Colorado, finding beauty in their varying landscapes. From beaches and plains, to mountains and lakes, the different myths and bedtime stories told to her as a kid helped form her appreciation for art with a narrative.

She is also influenced by explorations of identity, magical-escapism, fashion, pop culture, and cute animals. Reflecting on memories and emotions, her ideas stem from the sentimental part of herself. People, animals, lyrics, and memories evoke different stories that manifest themselves in her work.

Farr’s paintings have been shown in “Discover: A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, at the Fremont Center for the Arts, in Cañon City, CO. She has also been in multiple student shows. The “Red Shoe Awards”, at RMCAD, earning an honorable mention for storytelling, and the “Jac Kephart CMU Student Show”, juried by Terry Shepard, at The Art Center of Western Colorado, in Grand Junction, CO.

Farr was also one of three artists in the CMU BFA “Identity” exhibition in Grand Junction, Colorado, graduating from Colorado Mesa University with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts.
